With only a week, maybe two left in the race to make the 16 team tourney here's how things shape up going into the holiday week....
1) LSU 11-0 110pa lw #1
2) Houston 11-0 235pa lw #2
3) Alabama 10-1 92pa lw #5
4) Virginia Tech 10-1 186pa lw #4
5) Stanford 10-1 230pa lw #6
6) Arkansas 10-1 232pa lw #7
7) Oklahoma St 10-1 300pa lw #3
8) Boise St 9-1 205pa lw #10
9) Penn St 9-2 143pa lw #13
10) Michigan St 9-2 168pa lw #16
11) Michigan 9-2 172pa lw #14
12) Wisconsin 9-2 175pa lw #15
13) Georgia 9-2 196pa lw NR
14) South Carolina 9-2 213pa lw NR
15) Arkansas St 9-2 218pa lw NR
16) Southern Miss 9-2 239pa lw #12
So Southern Miss reward for hanging on and making the #16 spot would be to play the #1 seed LSU in the first round. Well, at least you're in the dance and anything can happen on any given Saturday. The #5 Stanford vs #12 Wisconsin matchup would be a beauty with those two QB's going at it, shame one of them would have to lose. But there is a week to go so lets see how this all settles in, remember I don't count conference championship games so things should be lined up after Saturday.
Here's hoping you all have a good Thanksgiving and thanks for taking time out to read this!

I've created a 16 team college football playoff system based on wins and points allowed that would start in Dec and end in Jan. Check in each week to see who the 16 teams would be.

Yes to Penn St & no to conference title games....
I've been asked if I am keeping Penn St in the running to be a playoff team with all that has gone down & the answer is yes. It's not fair to punish the players for the alleged actions of somebody else. The other question was about the conferences that have title games. I don't count those, don't believe in them. In my world you'd play everybody in your conference once and the last team standing was your champion. I wouldn't have conferences with more than 10 teams either if I ran the world. Give you three non conference games and then onto the regular season & everybody would play 12 games. I know, it's a fantasy world that the conference dictators and ESPN would never go for because the world isn't black & white, it's green with dead presidents on it. But it's my blog and it's free to dream.
Here is how this weeks standings look with two new teams in and two out & Robert Wuhl is living the dream with his Cougars #2 which would face off against my Wisconsin Badgers in round 1 of the playoffs! 1 & done for one of us Robert, but there are a couple weeks left so we'll see who winds up where!
1) LSU 10-0 107pa lw #1
2) Houston 10-0 228pa lw #3
3) Oklahoma St 10-0 263pa lw #4
4) Virginia Tech 10-1 186pa lw #8
5) Alabama 9-1 71pa lw #6
6) Stanford 9-1 202pa lw #2
7) Arkansas 9-1 215pa lw #12
8) Oregon 9-1 217pa lw #11
9) Clemson 9-1 259pa lw #13
10) Boise St 8-1 170pa lw #5
11) Oklahoma 8-1 178pa lw #10
12) Southern Miss 9-2 239pa lw #9
13) Penn St 8-2 129pa lw #7
14) Michigan 8-2 155pa lw #16
15) Wisconsin 8-2 158pa lw #NR
16) Michigan St 8-2 165pa lw #NR
Out--Louisiana Lafayette & Cincinnati
Just missed--Georgia, South Carolina, Arkansas St, Nebraska, TCU.
Last four are from the Big Ten I noticed. Some interesting matchups if the playoffs would start this week, but like I said earlier we've got two weeks to go. I'm thinking Michigan St would give LSU a pretty good fight.
Questions, comments, or concerns? Let me know & thanks for taking time out to read this.
