Here are the 16 team college football playoff matchups...

The season is over so now lets settle it on the field.  These are the 16 teams based on wins & points allowed that have qualified for the playoffs.  Each game on a Saturday at a neutral site, so in 4 weeks you'll have your champion with the title game played someplace warm like Miami or Tampa or indoors like San Antonio or Dallas.  Here's how the first round would look....

#1 LSU 12-0 vs #16 Arkansas St 10-2
#2 Houston 12-0 vs #15 Oregon 10-2
#3 Alabama 11-1 vs #14 Arkansas 10-2
#4 Virginia Tech 11-1 vs #13 Southern Miss 10-2

#5 Boise St 11-1 vs #12 South Carolina 10-2
#6 Stanford 11-1 vs #11 Georgia 10-2
#7 Oklahoma St 11-1 vs #10 Michigan 10-2
#8 Wisconsin 10-2 vs #9 Michigan St 10-2

Remember, conference championships don't figure into my mix.  If you had a playoff system like this why bother with conference championships because you've got Wisconsin & Michigan St playing again along with Alabama & Arkansas going at it again too.  Skip the conference championship game and lets get right into the playoffs after everybody has played 12 games the 2nd Saturday in December.  10-2 TCU & Kansas State were the two left out in the cold because of too many points allowed, good luck in the bowl games where those who don't make this will play.

So lets look at this first round & I'll make some predictions.  My apologies to Robert Wuhl but I'm taking Oregon to beat #2 Houston first round & I think South Carolina can take Boise St out too.

Round 2 might look like this..
#1 LSU vs #8 Wisconsin
#7 Oklahoma St vs #15 Oregon
#3 Alabama vs #6 Stanford
#4 Virginia Tech vs #12 South Carolina

The final four...

#1 LSU vs #4 Virginia Tech
#3 Alabama vs #7 Oklahoma St

Which leads to #1 LSU vs #3 Alabama for all the marbles.  They loosen up this game and Alabama wins it 27-24 in one heck of a battle that could go either way Saturday Jan 7th.

Thank you all for taking time out for me this year.  Feel free to leave any comments you have or make your own predictions.  Have a great holiday season & we'll try it again come Oct 2012....
